Brief
info: Away
from hustle and bustle of city, located at Classic
Orchards is a home built with Zen philosophy. While
excavating for foundations a huge monolithic rock
was found. This rock is a central theme, artifact,
a cooling agent and a stabilizing element. The house
is literally built on it as columns are directly inserted
in it.
This
rock has been partially carved to create a sub-
terrainian chamber with natural vents from three
directions. This can be reached by steps in the
middle of the house descending over the rock. House
works on three levels physically and psychically.
The
flooring is traditional red oxide. The roofs are
pre-cast concrete beams with cuddappa slabs and
red oxide finish on top with clay sandwich. The
door and windows are made out of pinewood available
as packing waste.
House
is built on Spartan principles. The central vent
running through all the levels unites the monolithic
rock with the sky. House insides are cool and breezy
even in hottest summer without fans.
It
is pure bliss as the name suggests (Sri Ananda Nilayam)
